Quickly Sketching It Out
With this project being a heavy practice on prototyping, I needed to lock in my design direction from the get-go.
In order for this speaker to seamlessly integrate into an environment, I gave myself two design requirements.
It must be compact, and occupy minimal space.
It must serve secondary visual purpose.
Environments + Details
The goal was to create a modern forward design that uses natural materials to provide a timeless and sleek finish.
For the visual element, I wanted a feature that felt surreal as well as calming.
Surreality was achieved by juxtaposing fluidity and firmness.
Calming came from naturally occurring patterns typically associated with zen and serenity.
The answer?
Water ripples carved into hard wood.
